Policies and Safety

Please keep the following rules in mind when visiting Grace Riding Stables:

BARN HOURS: Monday through Thursday, 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Friday through Sunday, 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

FOOTWEAR: All students must wear appropriate footwear at all times while working around and riding horses. Appropriate footwear is a hard-soled shoe with a small heel (no more than approx. 1").

HELMETS: All riders must wear an ASTM-SEI approved riding helmet at all times when mounted. No bicycle helmets.  No exceptions.

WASH RACKS AND TACK: Students are to return tack to appropriate place AND in proper condition. Students are also responsible for cleaning up the grooming area, this includes cleaning up any poop, AND returning your grooming kit to the tack room.

SCHOOL HORSES: Students are responsible for grooming both before AND after lesson ~ this includes body brushing, brushing out mane and tail, and picking hoofs. Horses should always be put back in good condition. During hot weather a horse may need to be rinsed off or in cold weather may need to be blanketed. Always check with the instructor first for after-lesson directions for your lesson horse.

LESSON CANCELLATIONS: Students (or parents) are financially responsible for all lessons not canceled before 12 noon the day PRIOR to the scheduled lesson. Cancellations are accepted by phone, text, or email.

PAYMENT:  Grace accepts checks (payable to Grace Riding Stables), cash and PayPal for lessons, boarding and camp. See lesson policy for payment information .

RETURNED CHECKS: There is a $25.00 charge for any returned check.

PARKING: All parking must be behind the green barn in the car park.  No vehicles beyond the fence.  Please drive the speed limit of 5 mph up and down the drive way.

CHILDREN: Supervision of children on Grace premises is the responsibility of the parent or a supervisor appointed by them. Grace employees supervise your children only during a scheduled lesson. If a minor is being “dropped off” for a lesson, please pick them up at Grace when the lesson activities end.

RUNNING OR SCREAMING: No running or screaming in or around the stable areas.

NO GUM, please leave your gum at home.

WATER BOTTLES, please depose of your water bottles, trash in the trash cans.  You are responsible for your trash.

JUMPING: Absolutely no jumping outside of lessons - all jumping must be done under the supervision of your instructor.  
 
RAIN: In the event of rain, call your instructor as near to your lesson time as possible on the day of your lesson to find out if we are planning to teach. (It may be raining at your house and not at Grace.) The website is updated with current riding conditions. BARN LESSONS may be conducted in lieu of riding, depending upon weather conditions, and at the discretion of the Grace Instructor.  These lessons are not optional, but are a required part of a full horse curriculum.
